Trying on Topics

The nonfiction of Narratively is decidedly different than Brevity. The later moves quickly, speaks about a moment and leaves the reader wondering if they have experienced something similar. Coming up with a possible topic has proved daunting. I have searched my life up and down for an artifact or artifacts that might be turned into something interesting and compelling. Here's what I have found.
My first notion, since this blog is about non-typical runners, is about the medals presented at the finish line of races I have completed. Pictured here are a few. For shorter distances, such as 10K's and 5K's, runners receive a t-shirt. Those are not as impressively as these medals. The Little Rock Half Marathon has the biggest medal. I've finished it three times. The Mississippi Blues Half Marathon medal continues a theme of blue electric guitars. The most recent has 10 guitars that spin around a central guitar pick. It weigh five pounds. As I mentioned, shorter races do not necessarily present a medal to runners. The Marine Corps Marathon 10K, however, does. Runners complete the last 6.2 miles of the Marine Corps Marathon and cross the same finish line surrounded by a brigade of Marines. You receive your medal while your picture is being take under the Iwo Jima Memorial. Lastly, could use some help deciding a title and subtitle.
My second notion, since I am a dog-loving, canine-rescuer, is to write about the six dogs living in and around my one house. The number has been higher but these six have been regulars. My neighbors probably call me the crazy dog lady. Each is one has a sad story of redemption. One I even paid to adopt although he born in my yard and lives in my house. The title I have is, "Six dogs, One House."
